Our Reflection

Edmond

The cross dressing day is an extremely interesting and meaningful campaign for me to put on female’s costume. By the way, it is my first time dressing like this and I am totally proud of doing it. Honestly, at the very beginning, I felt a bit embarrassed as our team was stared all the time, at that moment, I can experience the feeling of cross dressers and transgender which happens every day on them. After receiving a plenty of positive responses from the interviewees, I built up my confidence and hit upon that the stare from others might not be negative at all, most of all, I only need to concern how I feel by myself, but not by others. Eventually, I am glad to do this topic as I have acquires a lots from it, such as open minded thinking and the memorable experience of cross dressing. That is crazy, but funny.

The cross-dressing day was enjoyable. In fact, it was my first time to dress in clothes of opposite gender. I was quite embarrassed because everyone stares at me during the event. On the other hand, I was really excited and satisfied. It was a good opportunity for me to dress those clothes and realize the feeling of being discriminated against. After this experience, I will respect everyone’s choices.

I hope our website, campaign and interview can make people around the world have a better interpretation of cross-dressing and the feeling of cross dressers. All in all, cross dressing is really interesting. Let’s dress like the opposite gender and enjoy cross-dressing together.

This project is not simply meaningful in a way that we get to understand cross-dressers by being one of them, we also studied this topic in multifarious ways. For instance, apart from the very embarrassing campaign, online research and interviews were also done. What I can conclude from this project is, we should never judge others by their looks: We never know what they have been through, nor do we know what they think. Same as LGBT and other minorities, we should show respect instead. Despite the aforementioned deal of work, I believe the time and effort invested in this project is worth it and we hope that we could change the community's conventional views on cross-dressing through this project.

The cross-dressing day was a fun experience that allowed me to step into the shoes of cross-dresssers. The most memorable part was how the pedestrians stared at us and started whispering to their friends. Although  I understand that they were simply curious and surprised instead of trying to be hostile or mean, I still felt embarassed and worried about what they thought about me. After this experience, I believe I would be more careful with how I react when I see cross-dressers and other people who look different, so that they would not feel despised or stigmatized.

It was a memorable experience to cross-dress and walk around the campus. At first, I was a bit fear that people would stare and laugh at us during the campaign. However, it's lucky that we did not 'scared' people away and they were willing to be interviewed and express their feelings on us and cross-dressing. The views collected were generally positive and people did not express feelings like disgust and dislike. It is probably because there are many unusual functions in the university and people could accept we cross-dress for a function. Still, there are many people stare at us during the campaign. I was quite embarassing in the beginning of the campaign but soon, I adapted to it. Most likely, reactions from the public would be more negative when people cross-dress outside the campus instead of inside the campus. The cross-dressers in society might experience much great resistance and pressure from the public. After learning more about cross-dressing and experiencing what cross-dressers experience, I would respect cross-dressers' right to choose their own clothes. Lastly, I have gain quite a lot fun in the Cross-Dressing Day and it would become one of the special experience in my university life.
