Background

Cross-dressing refers to the act of wearing garb and accessories related to the opposite sex. From ancient to modern times, many people cross dress mainly for comfort, entertainment, personal preference, disguise and challenging social norms. They may or may not express to the others. Therefore, people wearing in cross-dressing do not necessarily mean transgender.

Almost every human society throughout history has anticipated that males and females should dress in an obviously different way, including the color, style, or type of clothing. Social norms, dress code, guidelines, and laws in societies have determined the appropriate type of clothing for each gender.

A considerable amount of historical figures from different societies and mythology shows that many people in the past had cross-dressed in various levels and for different kind of reasons. In fact, many countries, such as Kabuki and Korean shamanism contain a rich record of cross dressing in folklore, literature, theater, and music.

Reasons for cross-dressing:

Here is to most of us who do not understand why some others prefer to cross-dress. One of the major underlying reasons is that it is simply cool to do so, or it is just their preferences. Hmm, girls dressing in man's suits, boys with long hair... They look cool, don't they? To some, they might think that their bodies do not fit into their mind in terms of sexuality, while some others may just be experimenting with the opposite gender identity. Last but certainly not least, others like us may be thinking of raising the awareness of this issue as they cross-dress. As we can see, there are indeed a lot of reasons when it comes to cross-dressing, and obviously it does not necessarily mean that the cross-dresser is mentally-ill. In short, dress is just like eating, we each have different preferences!
